How will you live?

December 11, 2007

I’m currently using a Buddist text in my spiritual practice.  It is by Pema Chodron, called Comfortable with Uncertainty.

The section I was reading prior to meditation and prayer the other night was on facing the uncontrollability of life, on facing our tendancy to wrap up life (and God) in nice and tidy packages that we can control so that we can (so we think) ensure our life will be predictable and less hectic.

I don’t know if this question will work as a stand-alone or not, but I thought it was a nice way to summarize what I think is a very important question.  It is on page 6 of her book:  “Do I prefer to grow up and relate to life directly, or do I choose to live and die in fear?”
